Is your brand on the AI shelf?

When a shopper asks ChatGPT or Gemini for the best magnesium, the answer works like a store shelf: a few brands, in order, with reasons. We measure that shelf across 7 AI assistants, sampling hundreds of answers per shelf. Type your brand name and see where you stand.

Checked against 178,786 answers from the current cycle.

The new shelfNo. 01

There's a new shelf between you and your customers. You can't see it.

When a shopper asks ChatGPT for the best magnesium for sleep, it answers with a handful of brands, in a specific order, with reasons. A brand that isn't in that answer never reaches the shopper at all. And the shelf gets re-stocked constantly, whether anyone is watching or not.

Supermarket shelves have Nielsen. Natural retail has SPINS. The AI shelf had screenshots and anecdotes. We built the ruler.

Why sampling mattersNo. 02

Asking an AI once tells you almost nothing.

Ask the same AI the same question twice and you'll usually get two different shelves. In an independent 3,000-run study, fewer than 1% of identical prompts returned identical brand lists.

A single-shot check, which is what most AI-visibility tools run, is a coin flip wearing a dashboard. We sample every shelf hundreds of times per AI assistant, every cycle. When we say you're at 76% on a shelf, that is a measurement with a denominator, not a screenshot.

How we measureNo. 03
The questions

We ask what shoppers ask.

Hand-curated questions for every supplement shelf we track, written the way a real buyer asks them. A human decides what goes on the list.

The sampling

We sample at scale.

Every shelf is sampled hundreds of times per AI assistant, on the consumer products shoppers actually use: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity and Claude.

The reading

We read the shelf.

Every answer is parsed into brands, products and positions, then normalized so "GOL," "Garden of Life" and "gardenoflife.com" count as one brand. 9,857 brand names in the current cycle.

The watch

We watch, so you don't have to.

Your dashboard shows rank and visibility on every shelf, next to the competitors you name. Weekly monitoring, an alert when your position genuinely moves, monthly optimization opportunities for your PR and content teams, and a quarterly report written for your leadership.

“You're #4 on the multivitamin shelf on ChatGPT.”

That is the sentence this product exists to say, and it is a real one: on ChatGPT this cycle, Garden of Life holds #4 on the multivitamin shelf, appearing in 69% of shoppers' answers, behind Thorne at 98%. Not a proprietary score. A rank on a shelf, against competitors you name, with the receipts one click away.

Shelves

Every shelf row shows your actual product, its rank and its visibility, on each AI assistant.

Alerts

Silent while you hold your position. We only interrupt when a rank genuinely changes, you cross in or out of a top 5, or a new competitor lands on your shelf.

The report

Every quarter, a report written to go straight to your leadership: what moved, where, and against whom.

Independent by designNo. 04
Independent by design

The same ruler for every brand. AI Shelf Space is an independent measurement service, the way Nielsen and SPINS are for retail shelves. The Index is built the same way for every brand, customer or not, and no brand can pay to change a number. You get where you stand, who is ahead of you, and which websites and content move the shelf. What you do with that is your call, and we can help.

Serious categories run on neutral rulers. This is the ruler for the AI shelf.

Asked and answeredNo. 06
What exactly is "AI shelf space"?
When an AI answers "what's the best [category]," it names a few brands in order. That shortlist is the shelf. Your shelf space is how often, and how high, you appear on it, measured across hundreds of answers on each AI assistant.
How is this different from Peec, Otterly or other AI-visibility tools?
Three ways. They're horizontal (any brand, any industry) while we track one vertical, supplements, with every question hand-curated per shelf. They mostly sample once; we sample every shelf hundreds of times per assistant, because single runs are noise. And they report abstract scores; we report rank on a shelf against named competitors, with your products on the rows.
My competitors could subscribe too. Where's my edge?
The same place it is with Nielsen, SPINS or Ahrefs: everyone can buy the ruler, and the edge goes to whoever reads it first and moves first. Our alerts exist precisely so that's you. The shelf gets re-ranked whether anyone subscribes or not. The risk isn't sharing the ruler; the risk is being the brand that never looks at it.
Can you help us get recommended more?
The measurement comes first: it tells you exactly where you are losing, to whom, and which websites and content the assistants rely on when they recommend a brand. Yearly Intelligence turns that into monthly optimization opportunities for your PR and content teams. If you want hands-on help beyond that, write to us.
What happens after I subscribe?
We map your catalog to our shelves and your dashboard is live within two business days, with the current cycle's data in it. Your first alert arrives whenever your position genuinely moves.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancelling means your plan does not renew, and your dashboard stays live to the end of the year you paid for. If it has not earned its price in the first 30 days, email us and we refund you in full.
